Every July the ONS refreshes the official England and Wales rankings — and the movement tells you more than the top ten does. These are the names rising and falling fastest inside the top 100, from the July 2026 release covering 2025 registrations. Rank shown is where each name sits now.

Rises cluster into styles, and the styles are exactly what you can browse: Vinnie and Ronnie are the nickname-first wave; Mabel, Ottilie, Matilda, Eleanor and Nora are the vintage revival (vintage girls, vintage boys); Lyra and Nova ride the celestial current (names that shine); Yahya and Musa continue the long strengthening of Arabic names (Muslim boy names). The falls are just as tidy: Jaxon, Mason, Hunter and Logan — the American surname style — are cooling together, and 2010s girl staples Chloe, Emma and Bella are drifting as their generation grows up. A falling name isn't a bad name — it's tomorrow's revival waiting out its cycle, as Mabel herself proves.
